Hi Marie
Hope this model helps. In Sunderland we are working in partnership with
Housing 21 to provide three extra care schemes.

Housing 21 provide the landlord/housing management function between the
hours of 9 - 5 - Monday to Friday. The Council's Care Team provide 24/7
care and support services 365 days with the support of telecare provision.

We have a social enterprise / Community Interest Company who run the
restaurant which is open to residents and members of the public visiting
the scheme. Eating at this restaurant is not a condition of tenancy and
provides the residents with a choice of eating in their own apartments; at
the restaurant or elsewhere.

The 24 hour staff presence is covered by the care team as there is waking
night cover arrangements in place and due to the operation of the building
they are available to provide this cover in the absence of the court
manager. The care staff have handsets linked to the assistive technology
and can adequately manage the building on this basis.
