The first stage of the bidding process is now currently open to providers. Lincolnshire County Council is looking for providers to come forward with bids to build at one or more of the 12 strategic locations across the county.

The council is hoping for contracts to be awarded in March 2017, with a view to having new property built and in use by 2019/20.

This is very good news. I do though hope that they listen to the needs of full time wheelchair users and do not expect especially electric chair users to manage in twin bedrooms that are less than 4m x4m. No carpets in communal areas for manual chair users. Restaurant tables that chair users can sit at not vaguely near. Couples with a FT wheelchair user need to be on the ground floor in oversized flats, do not just comply with building Regs M3(4) as measurements for minimum turning circles are a bad joke. Any wetroom smaller than 2.5 x 2.5m will not accommodate the use of recliner commodes or shower trolleys. Put semi-accessible kitchens in as standard universal accessible design is good design for all. Put in accessible bathroom sinks as standard.
