Potential transition from sheltered hard wired alarms

Hello,

Could anyone direct me to any examples of best practice regarding the transition from hardwired to dispersed alarm provision in sheltered schemes? I'm trying to find info on where providers have:

+ Completely removed the hard wired systems and any difficulties faced
+ Deactivated the alarms and left the units in the properties
+ Risks/costs posed by either approach and how they were mitigated
