Programme

This free event will explore practical ways through which we can improve the lives of older people. It will explore evidence from JRF's five year programme A Better Life (opens new window). The findings from this programme stress the importance of:

  • challenging ageism;
  • mutually-supportive communities;
  • meaningful relationships;
  • mutuality and reciprocity;
  • the voices of older people with high support needs;
  • openness to radical, innovative approaches; and
  • how often simple changes can improve lives.

This event will explore these important messages and challenges, alongside evidence from other JRF Ageing Society (opens new window) programmes. It will feature interactive workshops on a number of themes, as well as panel debates with both older people and practitioners. Powerful case studies will come to life through playback theatre and specially commissioned songs will be performed by older people.
