HAPPI Hour - Assessing for the Home Setting: Trusted approaches to assessing for accessible and adaptable homes
Building on the momentum of World Occupational Therapy Day and the upcoming OT Week, we are excited to partner with TACT (Trusted Assessing & Care Training) to host this HAPPI Hour focused on OT assessments and trusted methods for evaluating accessible and adaptable homes. The session will cover topics ranging from the application of Disabled Facilities Grants and assessing community equipment to aids, adaptations and assistive technology.
Overview
In light of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists’ pioneering report, Adaptations without Delay, we will explore the significance of the Trusted Assessor process and how it aligns with decision-making on adaptations to deliver the best outcomes at personal, environmental and service levels. It will highlight examples of services and teams inspired by the reallocation of roles involved in equipment and adaptation assessments, as envisioned in the 2019 RCOT report. The focus is on enhancing housing providers' ability to identify service users' and tenants' needs while reserving OT teams for more complex cases.
The webinar will feature presentations from organisations showcasing innovative approaches to assessing and delivering home adaptations. Speakers will share operational insights and lessons learned, including perspectives on technology from one of our TAPPI testbed partners. This will bring the model to life and inspire others.
