Event date

Presentation notes and slides

Description

'Designing for an ageing population',

on Tuesday, 18 November, 9:30am to 12:30pm at RIBA, central London

This free, half day seminar will touch on latest research, award winning designs and the aspirations of residents, leading architects and providers on what makes good housing and desirable living spaces for older people. It will then be followed by a separate afternoon and early evening symposium, hosted by RIBA, that will explore in further detail the connections between design, the built environment and an ageing demographic. It will feature case studies of the most inspiring UK projects and a keynote by Stephen Witherford of Witherford Watson Mann.

We will also be launching a new Housing LIN report by Design for Homes on the key design features from past and recent HAPPI award entries and the lessons that can be learnt to inform and influence future designs of 'age-friendly' mainstream housing and purpose-built specialist housing.

N.B: Booking your place for this event does not enable you to attend RIBA's Symposium or evening event. If you wish to attend both, please register separately at www.architecture.com/ageingsymp (opens new window)
