Announced at TSA’s ITEC Conference 2023 on Monday, 27 March 2023, TAPPI partners are delighted to share 4 personal stories in the authentic voices of the TAPPI Champions. The stories cover the positives and negatives of digital technology, peoples’ hopes and fears and highlight how technology can be both a blessing and a curse.

New research shows that the majority of people believe that rightsizing to a homethat better suits their needs is either unaffordable, reserved for the point of healthcrisis, or simply a ‘problem for when I’m older’.

Welcome to TAPPI Cast, our weekly update on the 'Technology for our Ageing Population: Panel for Innovation' (TAPPI) project which aims to improve the way technology is used in housing and care for older people.

We were pleased to support RIBA and six built environment bodies, fire safety organisations and disability rights groups and sign a joint letter to Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, Rt Hon Michael Gove MP. The united call urges the Government to reduce the height threshold for more than one staircase in new residential buildings to 18 metres (approximately six storeys), from the government's current proposed 30 metres (approximately ten storeys).  

Week commencing 13th March saw the official introduction of the TAPPI project to Pobl’s residents living at Llys Y Werin, Pobl Group’s Extra Care service in Gorseinon. It was an opportunity for everyone to talk about technology, it’s uses and how it could help in the day to day life at the service.

We are pleased to share this new Housing LIN guest blog by Laetitia Cailleteau, Data&AI Europe Lead on the HomeCare team working for Accenture about a project they are involved in, funded by the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Healthy Ageing Challenge.

The Housing LIN is delighted to support Care Talk’s inaugural awards on 9 June in London. They will recognise and celebrate excellence in accommodation and services for integrated retirement communities and schemes that enhance the independence of people with learning disabilities and mental health support needs.

We are proud to join over 70 organisations to support a call for a Commissioner for Older People and Ageing in England to act as an independent champion for older people to facilitate long-term planning and enable more people to age well.
