Amar Bari, Amar Jibon Professional Advisory Group meets for first time
The newly formed Amar Bari, Amar Jibon Professional Advisory Group (PAG) had their inaugural online meeting this week to receive a research update from project partners (The Open University, Bangla Housing Association and the Housing LIN) on the Dunhill Medical Trust-funded project on the housing needs and choices of the Bangladeshi ‘probin’ community.
Drawing on PAG members’ considerable expertise, the group discussed ways in which the project can influence national housing policy and also reflected on local strategies and practical interventions that are or could be in place to make information and advice accessible to diverse groups, address overcrowding in social housing, tackle disrepair in the private rented sector and enable multigenerational living across any tenure.
Members also reflected on preparedness regarding thinking and adapting plans, strategies and stock for an ageing population including from minority communities.
