The NIHR Research Programme for Social Care (RPSC) currently has 2 calls open which reference technology and housing respectively. If your organisation is looking to make an application and would like some Housing LIN involvement in your proposal, get in touch so we can discuss how best to support your bid.

More about each call and how to access details can be found below.

1. Telecare-enabled social care

The first RPSC call is on technology-enabled social care (opens new window) and Stage One of the call closes on 30 October. The RPSC is inviting proposals for collaborative research projects that examine the development and utilisation of digital technology in social care. Successful Stage One entries will then be invited to proceed to Stage Two bid in February 2025.

With our experience on the TAPPI Project and wider application of technology-enabled care at home, get in touch without delay if you would like us to consider how the Housing LIN can best support/be involved in your application next week.

2. Evidence to improve, expand and strengthen the way social care is provided

The 2nd RPSC call is a competition (opens new window) to fund research that generates evidence to increase the effectiveness of social care services, provides value for money and benefits people who need or use social care services, and carers. The aim of this call is to fund research that uses qualitative, quantitative and/or mixed methods designs to generate evidence to improve, expand and strengthen the way social care is provided for users of care services, carers, the social care workforce, and the public across the UK.

The scope of this competition is wide ranging and reference is made to research examining consequences for social care users of provision of other services, including housing. With our deep understanding of HAPPI ‘care ready’ housing principles, this may be of interest to potential applicants?

The deadline for this Stage One application is 15 January 2025. And, if invited, Stage Two submissions need to be made by 13 February 2025.

If you think your bid could benefit from Housing LIN involvement, please get in touch. We look forward to hearing about either proposal and exploring the Housing LIN’s involvement.
