Aspirations for appropriate housing solutions for older people in Gwent
This report on the ‘Accommodation Provision for People of Retirement Age or Older, Predicated on Research and Investigation using Approved Techniques and Evidence’ (APPROPRIATE) presents the findings of a study for the Gwent Health, Social Care and Housing Partnership.
The first study of its kind in Wales, it investigated the appropriate design and delivery of housing provision for older people which would enable them to live happily, healthily, safely and independently in later life. It also describes the reasons why older people do not want to move to appropriate housing in later life and how this issue could be addressed.
Phil Robson, Chair of the Gwent Regional Partnership Board, commented:
‘The Gwent Regional Partnership are delighted that this very helpful and wide-ranging piece of work has been done. It shows the commitment in Gwent to collaborative working that spans Health, Social care and Housing and gives us collectively very good information for forward planning. We will make sure that this report is shared widely with all our partners – so we can make a real difference to citizens going forward’.
