Older People’s Housing Taskforce – A progress update

The Secretariat to the Older People’s Housing Taskforce has produced a progress update highlighting key activities since its launch by Ministers on 16 May 2023. It sets outs the scope of the Taskforce, visits and events undertaken and also issues a reminder to take part in the call for evidence which closes on Monday, 18 September 2023.

Housing LIN supports Accessible Homes Week 2023

Accessible Homes Week celebrates what an accessible home can do for a person's wellbeing, independence and overall quality of life. This year, we draw attention to a collection of relevant and useful reports and blogs, including their new research demonstrating the economic and social value of wheelchair user homes to society.

September marks World Alzheimer’s Month, which aims to raise awareness and challenge stigma surrounding Alzheimer’s and dementia. Jeremy Porteus, Chief Executive of the Housing LIN shares his views on the importance of considering housing when supporting people living with dementia.

Government delivers extra £50 million home adaptation funding

The Government has announced an extra £50 million for the Disabled Facilities Grant on top of the annual £573 million already provided. It is the first tranche of a £102 million investment over two years, that will enable local authorities to provide additional services that are agile, make minor adaptations quickly and support speedier hospital discharge.

Peers have voted in favour of Healthy Homes for all in the Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill

Tabled by Lord Nigel Crisp, Peers voted this week in the House of Lords in favour of Healthy Homes for all in an amendment to the government's Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill.

Builder, Expert, Disruptor, Leader: The Mary Roles of People with Lived Experience (opens new window)

This research paper, published by the International Journal of Integrated Care, identified four key roles that people with lived experience of health and social care, including family carers, can adopt to be at the heart of integrated care policy and practice.

Toward a feminist housing commons? Conceptualising care-(as)-work in collaborative housing

This article, published in Housing, Theory and Society, shows that the framework of care-(as)-work is key to bringing a critical understanding of the labour, often gendered, that goes into making and maintaining “community” in collaborative housing.
