DH capital grants allocations

The Department of Health has published details of its capital grants to local authorities in England totalling £261m over two years. The grants have been split into £129m for 2013-14 and a further £132m for 2014-15. The accompanying DH letter states that the Community Capacity Grant will be allocated to local authorities, providing capital funding to support development in three key areas: personalisation, reform and efficiency. In previous years some local authorities have used this to contribute to other investment streams to top up their Disabled Facilities Grant budgets or contribute to meet the cost of developing specialist housing such as extra care housing. If you are in the process of finalising your bids to the Care and Support Specialist Housing Fund (deadline 18 January 2013), it is worth contacting your local authority commissioning/housing lead to determine whether they have identified how they plan to use their allocation or are aware of the grant.
