Department of Health issues fresh advice on transforming adult social care

The Department of Health has outlined its ambitions for the remaining two years of the Social Care Reform Grant (SCRG) in a circular to local authority chiefs.

Local Authority Circular (DH (2009) 1 outlines the support available to councils and their partners in the ongoing transformation of adult social care - as set out in the Putting People First agreement in December 2007. It highlights policy areas central to the networks' activity including personalisation, care closer to home, integrated care and partnership working.

The document, which has been copied to NHS leaders, includes details of council allocations of the SCRG and a 'plain English' outline of the society which successful transformation should help to create.
