Empowering Staff with LifeLens VR Training - Helping to Build Empathy with Sensory Challenges

LifeLens Ealert image

LifeLens is a VR experiential learning platform which helps build empathy with the sensory challenges that can often accompany people living with dementia and ageing.

Their aim is to support those families through raising awareness of these lesser-known challenges and those designing spaces to improve quality of life and extend independent living.

Their cloud-based "Train the Trainer" model empowers Learning Leads to guide staff, community groups, and the families they support through their Multiuser Shared VR experiential learning platform.

Additionally, author and activist Wendy Mitchell shared how these simple adaptations made it possible for her to remain independent for longer:

About LifeLens

LifeLens works well in a variety of environments. It can be cast to a screen at a conference or community event or be used for individual learning.

VR is making strides in improving the effectiveness of training. Research shows that virtual learners are up to 275% more confident to act on what they learned after training, they complete training 4 times faster meaning less time off-the-job and feel 3.75 times more emotionally connected to educational content than classroom learners.

Kingdom Group staff said:

  • Housing Officer:
“It has given me a much better understanding of what effect visual and hearing impairments can have on a person.”

  • Housing Officer:
“How confusing it can be with colour and light and how this can lead to falls, trips, and accidents.”

  • Executive Director, Kingdom Housing & Care:
“The most impactful element for me was experiencing what it is like to live with glaucoma or macular degeneration.”

  • Employability Officer:
“Being able to see through the eyes of someone and experience how things would look was so helpful and would really complement the training we deliver during our care academy.”
