Entry to the 2023 Housing Design Awards now open!
We are delighted to support The Housing Design Awards, which opened for entries this month. Set up by the Ministry of Health in 1948, the Department for Health added a HAPPI award category in 2010 to the unrivalled national record of high quality residential schemes.
In the 13 years since, dozens of superb HAPPI-inspired projects have won at both Completed status (built and occupied), and Project status (when planning approval is obtained but the scheme is not yet complete).
Locations range from Wealden District Council's Grants Hill Court in Uckfield to Helena Partnerships' Heald Farm Court in Newton-le-Willows. London has contributed a number of highly innovative models, such as intergenerational developments from Lewisham Phoenix Community Housing and Westminster City Council, as recently featured in a Housing LIN HAPPI Hour webinar.
Winning schemes are measured against the HAPPI principles, as showcased in this week’s HAPPI Awareness Week, with Housing LIN’s Jeremy Porteus guiding the process, supported by 2 judges who worked with him on the original HAPPI report, Kevin McGeough and David Birkbeck.
Lastly, details of previously shortlisted and winning schemes is recorded on the www.hdawards.org (opens new window) website which includes more than 100 films, many detailing the residents' thoughts on the design of their homes, alongside more than 1000 case studies.
Deadline for entry is 1 March 2023.
