House of Lords Adult Social Care Committee publishes Inquiry report

A gloriously ordinary life’ spotlight on adult social care cover

Following a 10 month Inquiry, the House of Lord Select Committee published its report today ‘A gloriously ordinary life’’: spotlight on adult social care (opens new window)

It challenges government to urgent reforms in adult social care. Of particular interest through the lens of the housing with care sector are its findings and recommendations for Independent Living in Chapter 6. They include calling for the expansion of accessible and inclusive housing to a minimum, and increase capital funding - from extra care and retirement housing to cohousing and supported living - and scaling up digital technologies.

However, there is little mention of other measures that could also support better care at home such as home improvements and adaptations services or energy efficiency interventions.
