Habinteg's Accessible Homes Week is important to us at Housing LIN, as it supports our commitment to promote accessible and inclusive housing for older people and people with disabilities. This week has highlighted the need for adaptable, future-proof homes that enable independent living and enhance the quality of life for all residents.
To celebrate, we're pleased to draw attention to the following resources:
HAPPI Hour Webinar—Embedding accessibility in all our housing
We were excited to launch our autumn/winter HAPPI Hour webinars during Accessible Homes Week. This session covered the upcoming Part M consultation, the HoME Coalition's work on accessible housing, and the campaign to improve Building Regulations. It also highlighted inclusive design efforts by Habinteg and The Wandsworth Regeneration Team in partnership with RIBA, a London authority, and a private developer.
Here's what attendees had to say:
- Great mix of policy, evidence and public and private sector building experience.
- Well-detailed presentations with some interesting findings and information.
- Full of inspiring and practical content.
TACT offers new programmes to help improve your skills in assessing home adaptations
TACT (Trusted Assessing and Care Training) tackles a key aspect of accessibility for older and disabled people by helping to adapt homes and environments, enabling them to live independently through a range of programmes designed to enhance skills in assessing equipment and adaptations at various levels and for a wide variety of roles involved in supporting older and disabled people to remain at home.
With growing demand and waiting lists in many areas, it is vital that everyone involved makes the most of the opportunities they have to improve people’s lives.
