Housing LIN hosts DesHCA roundtable
This week, to coincide with Grand Designs, we were pleased to host an in-person roundtable at PRP’s central London offices that put the spotlight on the UKRI Healthy Ageing Challenge-funded project on designing homes for healthy cognitive ageing - DesHCA - led by the University of Stirling. The Housing LIN was proud to be one of the project partners.
Representatives of the Housing & Ageing Alliance, the HoME Coalition, the Dementia & Housing Working Group and the Older People’s Housing Taskforce came together at this highly informative session to:
- hear from Stirling University’s Professor Alison Bowes and principal investigator and impact lead, Dr Cate Pemble
- learn about the DesHCA research findings
- test out their knowledge and awareness on adapting homes for cognitive ageing and designing accessible accommodation from the outset, including for people with dementia
- participate in practical exercises to build further understanding about applying inclusive design, and
- consider how to impact policy development and wider sector learning and improvement.
