How can we best meet the housing needs of people in later life?
A new report commissioned by the LGA from the Housing LIN makes recommendations to government on how we can best meet the housing needs of people in later life, with relevant case studies demonstrating good practice by councils in addressing the challenge of an ageing population.
The report also identifies the benefits of achieving the right mix of housing for older people and the barriers currently facing delivery.
Cllr David Fothergill, Chairman of the Local Government Association's Community Wellbeing Board said:
"Ensuring areas have sufficient housing that meets the needs of our aging population is crucial for not just delivering a higher quality of life, but also for its positive impact on other public services and spending. Councils are key to shaping the housing needs of older population for England, and the recommendations in this publication are crucial to informing how we can best meet the needs of people in later life and address the housing needs of an ageing population."
