Inspiring Futures: Last Meeting of the 2022 Future Leaders Programme

Future Leaders session

It was a great honour to host this afternoon’s hybrid meeting of the 2nd cohort of the Future Leaders’ Programme in London and to present their individual certificates.

Everyone shared the lessons they learned from last year’s programme and the specific things that have helped them in their development since.

Drawing on qualities such as compassionate leadership, overcoming feelings of imposter syndrome, and how to cope with success and failure, above all, there was overwhelming agreement that the Housing LIN’s programme had given everyone a sense of greater confidence and self-belief. It was therefore really inspiring to see how motivated they all are to now stride forward in their chosen careers.

Jeremy Porteus, founder and CEO at Housing LIN, said:

"It was fabulous to meet up with members of the 2nd cohort of our Future Leaders Programme today and to present their certificates in person. A great way to celebrate their achievement, recount lessons learned and share how the Housing LIN programme has benefited their early career development. We look forward to following their professional journeys."

Here's what the Future Leaders participants had to say...

Yasmeen Hussein, Policy Officer at the London Borough of Harrow, said:

I have felt incredibly inspired by both the Speakers and my colleagues in this cohort of Future Leaders. Learning about how to develop my voice and ensure that everyone in the room heard has been especially valuable.

Jack Baldan, Housing Investment Officer at Waltham Forest Council, commented:

The Housing LIN Future Leaders programme has been an enlightening experience which has pushed me to think deeply about what I do and where I want to go with my career. During my time on the programme, I have had an opportunity to listen to housing sector leaders, including Future Leader alumni, who represent a diverse range of housing options. These interactions have been incredibly valuable in helping me to value this diversity and seeking ways to find connections within it.

Hayley Derham, BI Reporting Analyst at Housing 21, added:

The HLIN Future Leaders programme has been incredibly insightful. We have had some really detailed discussions about qualities that make a successful leader and we have had the opportunity to meet some really interesting and inspirational leaders who have shared experiences on what it takes to lead a team.

To coincide with Housing LIN Summit 2023, we were pleased to publish a series of impressive blogs written by our 2022 cohort of Future Leaders setting out what they learnt on the Housing LIN programme and how this inspired them. Read the bogs here
