The Housing LIN looks forward to welcoming a fantastic line-up of influential figures in this session of this year's Housing LIN Summit 2021 - A Festival of Ideas!

This session will look at the housing for older people’s market and share ideas on how the sector is reimagining the vision for retirement living in how and where it develops, designs and operates more resilient communities.

Let's take a closer look at who our speakers are and what they do!

Jeremy Porteus

Jeremy was formerly National Lead for Housing at the Department of Health responsible for the Extra Care Housing Fund and the Prevention Technology Grant programme. After leaving the Department, he founded the independent Housing LIN (Learning and Improvement Network), bringing together over 25,000 housing, health and social care practitioners in England, Wales and Scotland to identify and showcase innovative housing and technology enabled solutions for an ageing population.

Will Bax

Will is Chief Executive Officer at Retirement Villages Group. He was previously Executive Director at Grosvenor Group with responsibility for the management and development of its 300-acre central London estate. He has also been Chair of the Mayfair Forum, responsible for creating one of London’s first Neighbourhood Plans, and a board member of the New West End Company, the business improvement district for the West End.

Wendy Griffin

Main Board Director, BA (hons) Dip Arch RIBA, Wendy has been a member of Nicol Thomas Ltd for more than 25 years and has been practicing as a Chartered Architect for thirty years. She heads up the Birmingham Office Architectural team delivering designs and technical support across a range of sectors including residential, commercial, health & wellbeing, and retirement. With a particular passion for retirement, Wendy has become a specialist in the area of older peoples housing and assisted living design. 

Chris Jones

As Executive Director of Development at emh, Chris has led two successful Homes England Strategic Partnership bids which has doubled the number of new homes to be built over the next five years across the East Midlands. He brings a collaborative approach in leading the Quantum Development partnership and is a strong campaigner for greater housing investment in the region.

Dr Paul Willis

Paul Willis is an Associate Professor in Social Work and Social Gerontology in the School for Policy Studies, University of Bristol. He is also Head of the Centre for Research in Health and Social Care in the School and a Senior Fellow of the NIHR School for Social Care Research. Paul's research areas include: inclusive housing provision for older people; loneliness, ageing and masculinities; sexuality, care and ageing; trans ageing and gender identity; and inclusive care provision for diverse groups of older people.
