New Housing LIN Blog looks at changing attitudes to older people’s housing.

In the latest Housing LIN guest blog, Older People’s Housing – creating a paradigm shift, Howard Phillips argues that we need to change people’s attitudes to specialist housing.

Although the UK faces a significant increase in the proportion of older people in its population over the next quarter century, many people are reluctant to think about moving into specialist housing. At present only 1% of the population over the age of 65 are in specialist housing for older people.

Howard Phillips argues in this blog that by changing ideas around what constitutes housing for older people, we can create positive reasons for wanting to move, as lifestyle choice rather than as a necessity simply for health reasons.
