New Housing LIN blog considers the current state of research around extra care housing

In this new Housing LIN guest blog, Dr Robin Darton, Senior Research Fellow at the University of Kent's Personal Social Services Research Unit, examines a number of studies to consider the reported benefits of extra care housing for residents.
With reference to his recent paper (opens new window) published in Social Policy & Society, this blog looks at the evidence to suggest that it has benefits for residents in terms of costs and outcomes, and can provide a supportive environment for people with dementia, although the benefits for residents with greater care needs are less clear.
