New Housing LIN blog: recognising and addressing the emotional and psychological needs of service users and staff
To coincide with #WorldWellbeingWeek (opens new window), we are pleased to share with you our most recent Housing LIN guest blog titled, How to encourage Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE) in support services by Nathan Rhodes at Look Ahead.
PIE is a service in which the baseline behaviour of an individual is understood to better recognise service users impact on services and teams, in order to be prepared to tackle complex challenges. In turn, complex needs are discussed in a team setting where staff are less likely to tackle challenges alone and be more able to continue to deliver compassionate and engaged support.
With this said, Nathan explains what PIE actually means, what this looks like in practice and reflects on the See, Think, Act model utilised by Look Ahead’s Tabard Forensic Mental Health Service that has been adapted to the community settings and represents a core understanding of their service user groups as individuals.
