New blog shares how day centre opportunities can help regain a sense of purpose
In this blog, Tamsyn Pegler, Volunteer Manager at Coastline Housing, shares Christopher's journey of overcoming loneliness and improving his mental and physical wellbeing through the support of Miners Court Day Centre.
After the loss of his wife, he struggled with isolation and low mood but gradually regained confidence and joy by participating in the centre's activities and forming connections with others. His involvement in volunteering further boosted his sense of purpose and achievement, and his experience motivated him to seek long-term care and social support. The story highlights the transformative impact of community, care and engagement on wellbeing.
Tamsyn Pegler works closely with Louise Beard, Deputy Chief Executive of Coastline Housing, who is a member of the Housing LIN’s South West Leadership Set. The group works regionally to promote good quality housing for an ageing population and share how a range of different housing options for older people can deliver better personal health and wellbeing outcomes and service improvements.
