New guide to managing development of historic almshouses

Historic England have published advice on how the heritage significance of almshouses can be conserved as proposals for upgrading accommodation are developed.
The advice note, 'Historic Almshouses: A Guide to Managing Change', was developed with the support of the Almshouse Assocation, and suggests how the distinctive form and significance of sometimes centuries-old almshouses can be retained while supplying more comfortable and appropriate housing that allows residents to live independently for as long as possible.
