New investment in specialist housing

The first investment of the Housing Corporation's National Affordable Housing Programme (NAHP) for 2008-11 was announced last week. The new allocations for specialist housing for older and vulnerable people total £254 million. Of this, £125 million is for specialist housing for older people, including Extra Care Housing. This will provide 1,900 homes for affordable rent and 500 homes for affordable sale. A notable beneficiary of this programme is Housing 21 who have attracted allocations totalling just over £41 million.

Allocation for other supported housing is £129 million, providing over 1,700 homes for affordable rent and more than 300 homes for affordable sale. Further details available on the Housing Corporation's website.
