Starts at Home Day Member Update: Spotlight on Andy's story

Andy's story image

Andy lives in Furlong House (opens new window), one of GreenSquareAccord’s (GSA) Extra Care Services in Walsall, West Midlands.

Andy is very proud to live in Furlong House. He used to live in Devon and was married with two children but unfortunately his marriage broke down, he lost his children, and his brother died.

In Andy’s words his life: “fell apart and hit the bottle big time” becoming an alcoholic.

Andy came back to the West Midlands for help and support, and he was initially sofa surfing. He had nowhere to go, he was drinking, and he thought “nobody can save me.”

Andy’s social worker put him in touch with GSA and he’s not looked back since.

In Andy’s words:

“GSA saved my life. They are amazing and their people have made me happy because of the love and care I have received.”
