Anchored on care and support
All residents have access to Anchor's 24hour emergency call system and there is also a day centre attached to the estate which offers various activities that promote health and wellbeing. In addition, there are a range of social activities that residents at Olive House can participate in, including film viewings, arts and crafts, board games, gardening and trips out
What makes Olive House special?
Olive House is conveniently located to access central London as well as local shops, bus routes and amenities. There is a lively community and it is a great place for people to make social connections. The local authority also runs a day centre on site which is open to the wider community as well as to the residents of Olive House. Anchor’s support services provide residents with a wide variety of support options and adjustments they can opt for, to ensure they can continue to live their lives as independently as they wish.
Cathy Brown, resident at Olive House, said:
“I was worried that my private landlord would one day decide to sell the place I was in, and felt insecure that I could be moved out with little warning. I decided to put myself on the council’s list, and when I visited Anchor housing I was blown away by what I saw.”
“As someone with a career in the care industry, I’m very aware of people feeling lonely in their old age, so I enjoy meeting up with residents here who don’t have family nearby. There’s such a nice social community, perfect for when I’m not working!
“Anchor’s team were incredibly helpful. I feel a great sense of security and very settled here. I couldn’t ask for a better place or community to live.”
This member update has been published to coincide with Starts at Home Day 2024 (opens new window), celebrating the value of care and support services and the difference that having a safe and secure place to call home can make to people’s lives.
