Welcome to TAPPI Cast, our weekly update on the 'Technology for our Ageing Population: Panel for Innovation' (TAPPI) project which aims to improve the way technology is used in housing and care for older people. Includes updates from our 6 Testbeds, Resources and Events of interest.

This week we were delighted to announce the return of the Housing LIN Summit - A Festival of Ideas, a week-long virtual event filled with inspiring conversations starting Monday, 26 February 2024. Join us for two FREE sessions every day to watch, listen, and learn from prominent figures in the housing, health, care, and technology industries.

We're particularly looking forward to the session titled 'Navigating the Digital Switchover: Switching TAPPI on' taking place on Wednesday 28th February from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm. During this session, we will provide a sneak preview of the TAPPI 'testbeds' and explore the broader impact of telecare, digital, and assistive technologies in enhancing home-based care and support.

Our technology trials are progressing well and will continue until the end of January. In the meantime, we are delighted to advise that our work on the TAPPI project has led to us being shortlisted in the Technology Enabled Independent Living Award category at the 2024 Digital Health and Care Awards.

Grŵp Cynefin - Hafod y Gest (opens new window)

Hafod y Gest is an extra care housing scheme developed in 2018 by Grŵp Cynefin in partnership with Cyngor Gwynedd. Conveniently located, the scheme provides housing, support and care services for people over 55 years of age.

Dewi Smith, Programme Manager at Digital Communities Wales said, “The case study really demonstrates the value of digital skills and how these can help improve wellbeing. Digital skills can enhancing social connections, enable access to information and provide access to online services. Through working in partnership with Grŵp Cynefin we have been able to support people who otherwise might be digitally excluded to engage with the online world.
