TAPPI Cast – 9 June 2023
Welcome to TAPPI Cast, our weekly update on the 'Technology for our Ageing Population: Panel for Innovation' (TAPPI) project which aims to improve the way technology is used in housing and care for older people. Includes updates from our 6 Testbeds, Resources and Events of interest.
Updates from our Testbeds:
It was great to welcome Pete Fleischmann and Jolie Goodman from Co-Production Works to Harling Court on Thursday. A fabulous resident turn-out lead to an honest, open discussion about technology, including both its benefits and its barriers. We discussed how co-production is helping the TAPPI Project to understand the fear some of our older residents have about tech and how empathy is vital if we're to encourage its integration into daily life.
Kerry is a resident at Dairy View, who, during this week's Volunteers Week was given a one-to-one session on how to use her tablet by volunteers from AbilityNet (opens new window).
Kerri commented:
“I’m really excited to see how I can play and use the tablet and look forward to learning this week on my own and more next week with AbilityNet”
Last month saw the official opening of the Bield Tech Hub. Watch the short video below:
