The Housing LIN's Jeremy Porteus wish No1 for 2023 - The establishment of an Older People's Housing Task Force

Jeremy Porteus

Happy New Year from all of us at the Housing LIN! As we return to work, each day this week we will be featuring our Chief Executive's wishes for the year ahead. Today's wish is for the establishment of the Older People Housing Task Force.

First referred to in July 2021 when the then Housing Minister, Christopher Pincher MP presenting to an All-Party Parliamentary Group on Housing and Care for Older People meeting stated that he wanted to establish a Task Force on housing for older people.

18 months on, and as subsequently promised in the Levelling Up White Paper in February last year, we are yet to see it formally emerge.

However, in a recent Parliamentary debate, the new Housing Minister, Lucy Frazer MP has reaffirmed the government's commitment to create a Task Force. My first wish is to task her to establish it this spring as an urgent priority.
