The Housing LIN's Jeremy Porteus wish No2 for 2023 - The implementation of the Housing Transformation Fund

Happy New Year from all of us at the Housing LIN! As we return to work, each day this week we will be featuring one or more of our Chief Executive's wishes for the year ahead. Today's wish is the implementation of the Housing Transformation Fund.

Set out in the Department of Health and Social Care's 2021 White Paper, Putting People at the Heart of Care, I believe this proposed £300m package over 3 years can be a 'game changer' for local councils working with partners across housing, social care and health partners. 

My wish is to see its full implementation so that local authorities can now begin to access the support to put in place the building blocks to transform their local housing market.

This is to ensure it meets the needs and aspirations of older people and working age adults with disabilities or long term conditions; from creating the right conditions for meeting their current housing needs to obtaining more robust intelligence on their future preferences to help inform investment decisions on the interventions required to improve or adapt the stock in their area and/or boost the supply of new accessible homes.
