The future social housing provider

Flagship Group worked in partnership with the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE) to commission research into what the social housing provider of the future might look like.

The research reveals that in ten years' time, social landlords will almost certainly face a more difficult environment, and the housing sector will become more diverse.

Of particular interest, the report suggests two areas that social housing providers could consider are working with public bodies such as local authorities to build affordable homes on their land, and working with the NHS to provide move-on accommodation for patients leaving hospital, and/or taking a broader role in rehabilitation and health maintenance. The latter is something the Housing LIN covered in its recent case study report for the NHF, ‘Home from Hospital: How housing services are relieving pressure on the NHS’.
