The value of investing in social care
The Nuffield Trust, the Health Foundation and The King's Fund have published a new joint briefing: The value of investing in social care - what are the benefits of further funding for reform to adult social care in England? (opens new window)
Following the government's announcement on social care reform last month (opens new window), the briefing aims to move the debate on from the cost of social care to its value, by laying out the significant benefits social care brings to the lives of individuals, their families, and their local economies.
The briefing outlines seven benefits of social care in England where there are opportunities offered by additional funding for further reform:
- access
- market stability
- workforce
- support for unpaid carers
- quality
- innovation
- and the role of social care in supporting other public services like the NHS.
The Nuffield Trust also put forward key priorities for the government's promised White Paper on adult social care reform.
