Welcome to #Jeremytalks (opens new window) and our must-read weekly bulletin, HLINks (opens new window), week-ending Friday, 16th April 2021.

This week Shakespeare Martineau released their new White Paper on Retirement Housing. Supported by the Housing LIN and sector partners, the paper shares findings from the YouGov survey they commissioned into the public’s perception about retirement housing. It makes interesting reading and the sector should take note.

In this week’s HLINks (opens new window), you can take a tour of other news and events on later life housing and independent living with regard to homes and communities, health and social care, design and technology, planning matters and more. In particular, we welcome Look Ahead as a sponsor of the Housing LIN’s homelessness webpages and feature the new report by the Intergenerational Foundation on how COVID-19 has exacerbated housing inequalities, including between the young and the old. And for those of you interested in undertaking cutting-edge research, the Dunhill Medical Trust have now opened their call for proposals under the theme, ‘Building and delivering suitable living environments and communities for an ageing population’.

We are also delighted to draw attention to next week’s HAPPI Hour. We are hosting the first of two sessions that delve into the key issues and recommendations of the recent APPG on Housing and Care for Older People Inquiry report into housing and dementia. We are also thrilled that Action Deafness have generously provided BSL Interpreters so that our forthcoming webinars are now accessible to the deaf community.

In next week’s HLINks

Next week we look forward to announcing a new survey by Appello, supported by the Housing LIN. Have your say in will COVID-19 be the catalyst for greater use of technology in supported housing?

The Housing LIN would like to thank Willmott Dixon for their support in producing this newsletter.

Stay safe and remain connected with the Housing LIN!
