This year’s Housing Design Awards are open

As a long-term supporter of the Housing Design Awards, and the HAPPI category in particular, we are delighted to announce that entries are now open for the 2025 Housing Design Awards (opens new window). The deadline for submissions for completed development or projects is Wednesday, 12 March 2025.
In September last year, United St Saviour’s Charity standout contemporary almshouse, Appleby Blue, in Bermondsey, was crowned not only the HAPPI winner but also winner of winners of the 2024 Housing Design Awards, setting the benchmark for design quality, and putting housing for older people firmly on the map.
As a member of the government’s independent Older People Housing Taskforce and its recently published report, Our Future Homes: Housing that promotes wellbeing and community for an ageing population, the Housing LIN’s CEO, Jeremy Porteus, commenting on the Awards stated:
“The Taskforce’s report refers to the ‘care ready’ HAPPI design principles and not only makes recommendations for a more age-friendly and inclusively designed approach to mainstream and specialist housing but also recognises the importance of awards to showcase the best housing developments and design innovations that offer better quality housing choices. Hot on the heels of the Taskforce’s report, the Housing Design Awards 2025 therefore provides the ideal opportunity for the sector to demonstrate how it is responding to the Taskforce’s vision for our future homes..”
The Housing LIN looks forward to following this year’s awards with interest and sharing the learning from the shortlisted and winning entries later this year. Please enter by Wednesday, 12 March 2025. The terms & conditions and available packages can be found here (opens new window).
In the meantime, search the Housing Design Awards database for a record of the 2006-2024 shortlisted schemes, including many other HAPPI winners! And for more information about the HAPPI design principles, visit the Housing LIN’s dedicated HAPPI design webpage on our Design Hub.
