Two Almshouses make RIBA’s regional design awards shortlist

Residents in Appleby Blue

With a growing interest in creating more attractive, accessible and inclusively designed homes for an ageing population, as recommended in the Older People's Housing Taskforce report last year,  it is great to see that Appleby Blue, United Saint Saviour's Charity's almshouse in Bermondsey by Witherford Watson Mann Architects, and an overall 2024 National Housing Design and HAPPI winner, has made the RIBA London award shortlst.

In addition, in RIBA's East region, The Dovehouse Court Almshouses by Mole Architects in Cambridge for Girton Town Charity has been shortlisted for an award.

And, hot on the heels of a new APPG Inquiry on intergenerational communities, we are also pleased to see that the mixed-age Bridport Cohousing development in West Dorset by Barefoot Architects has shortlisted for a RIBA West and Wessex (opens new window) award.
