Fradel Lodge
London,
Agudas Israel Housing Association Ltd.
Description of Scheme
This scheme caters for frail elderly members of the orthodox Jewish community, including dementia, Alzheimer's, physical disabilities. We have facilities on site which can be used for the provision of intermediate care.
This scheme interfaces on many levels with the local community. The synagogue & dining facilities are accessed by outsiders. Social events are open to the community and ongoing learning such as daily lectures are attended by many. For people who are lonely and disadvantaged Fradel Lodge acts as a life enhancing force. One hundred local volunteers participate in daily activities.
There is a day centre on site which is a single story building with a synthetic roof and heating is provided by gas fired heat pumps providing under floor heating.
Windows are a mixture of plain and stained glass which is aesthetically pleasing. Within the extra care scheme all flats have access to Telecare and telehealth has been installed in several flats. All flats have door entry systems for security reasons. Heating is provided by low energy radiators. Recycling is available to all. Lounges have been made interesting by the decoration of murals on the whole area. Pavements have recently been lowered to improve access.
Where Is It?
The area is a mix of council estates, Victorian houses and some private apartments. There is a large mixed housing development under construction nearby. There are schools and synagogues in the vicinity.
Residents Information
I am very happy living in Fradel Lodge. I'm no longer isolated or intimidated to go out because of young people that used to be threatening. I have total independence. The staff are wonderful! They give me advise. All support staff are so kind to me - I have no worries.
