Needham House
Devizes,
Wiltshire Council
Description of Scheme
This scheme can cater for people with a low level of dementia and low need learning disability.
The building design meets HAPPI principles and is classified as BREEAM very good. The design allows for future adaptations (hoists etc) as may be required but telecare is fit as standard. All doors have wider openings to allow for wheelchairs and there is a large wetroom in each apartment. The building has an energy rating of B which was achieved through the large number of PV panels and a CHP system.
The communal areas (restaurant, activity rooms, assisted bathroom, treatment room) are all open to non-residents. They encourage the local community to use the activity rooms for different functions, activities and events. There is a men’s shed club that lease a barn at the rear of the property. This club is open to both residents and non-residents
Where Is It?
The building is in an existing urban area of Devizes. It is situated down a quiet residential road comprising largely of terraced Victorian houses and a number of alms houses.
