Relevant Local Strategy
The scheme is the first located in a market town with a rural hinterland. This development is a catalyst for a revised care, support and meal provision model and for the review of the Extra Care Housing Strategy. This will inform future developments across the County.
The Dorset Supporting People Partnership has produced a suite of strategies to inform the future direction of Older Peoples Housing. The Extra Care Strategy seeks to develop schemes in all housing authority areas in order to reduce the reliance on residential care and to impact on admissions to acute hospitals. This is the first scheme to be developed in North Dorset, an area including the market towns of Blandford, Gillingham and Shaftesbury.
