Extra Care housing is recognised as a way to maximise the independence of people with physical and mental health needs. Commissioners will often be considering extra care as an alternative to some existing services such as residential care and sheltered housing. The resources listed below cover various aspects of planning extra care that need to be clarified early on in the commissioning process. The Housing LIN Factsheet No30 covering the impact of the Credit Crunch on Extra Care provision is included.
