Who should use SHOP@?

Working collaboratively with local authorities and developers to test out this tool, SHOP@ is already proving useful to a range of organisations and professionals working across the public, private and third sectors to develop their Market Position Statements and Strategic Housing Market Assessments (see SHOP Resource Pack and accompanying briefings) with confidence.

It will have the most value if commissioners and those with statutory responsibility for housing and care for vulnerable older people work with colleagues in planning to understand projected future demand for specialist housing and inform their strategic plans.

For private and third sector developers of leasehold or rental accommodation, SHOP@ will help identify areas of potential unmet need by tenure and possible development opportunities. It will help underpin their data mapping and inform conversations on market analysis and investment opportunities with lead officers in the local planning authority, housing team and social and/or community health services.
