A Quality of Life: Code of Practice
The Quality of Life Foundation have produced a code of practice, based on eight principles, aimed to enable effective community consultation and engagement in development, planning and design.
Based on UK-wide research and with input from industry professionals and local and national government, the code of practice outlines what ‘good’ and ‘excellent’ consultation and engagement looks like, built on these eight principles:
- Be accountable
- Be effective
- Be transparent
- Be inclusive
- Be timely
- Support mutual learning
- Demonstrate impact
- Publish feedback
The authors intend that by implementing the code of practice's approach, those working in development, planning and design will be empowered to bring about positive change shaped to meet the needs of local people, enabling sustainable development and improved community wellbeing and resilience.
