Access Denied: Older people’s experiences of digital exclusion in Wales
This report from the Older People's Commissioner for Wales warns a growing number of older people in Wales are at risk of social exclusion and being left behind as the use of digital technology continues to play an even greater role in our everyday lives.
Detailing views shared with the Commissioner by older people living throughout Wales, the report highlights that many older people are finding it increasingly difficult, if not impossible, to access the services and information they need – including crucial services such as health appointments. It also details the barriers that lead to and reinforce digital exclusion and the resulting impacts, as well as foreseeing future challenges.
The Commissioner offers a series of recommendations to both the Welsh and UK governments, as well as to other public bodies and the private sector, including utilities and telecoms providers.
