An IRC in Every Borough: ARCO’s Housing-with-Care Manifesto for Greater London

Specialist housing-with-care can transform older people’s lives for the better and this manifesto from the Associated Retirement Community Operators (ARCO) sets out a vision for housing-with-care in London, and the actions needed from the GLA, London Boroughs and Central Government to achieve this.

Including data analysis from Centre for London, the document sets out how specialist housing for older Londoners is scarce and how this has a direct cost for older Londoners. The manifesto details how Integrated Retirement Community (IRCs) are different from other types of older people’s housing and how they can change people's lives and benefit London Boroughs, the NHS and the housing market.

Detailing specific actions for the GLA, London Boroughs and Central Government, the manifesto calls for all Greater London Assembly (GLA) Members and GLA staff, London Borough Councillors and officials who have relevant portfolios to visit an Integrated Retirement Community in or around London by the end of 2024.
