Assistive Technology Catalogue - Signal

Published by Leicestershire Social Services, July 2004

Location: Leicestershire

Issue: To offer a range of simple assistive technology products to service users and carers Action: The Signal project running in Leicestershire focuses on
very simple assistive technology and some telecare options as well. The 'catalogue' produced has been widely shared with service users and carers. Equipment is provided free of charge, but only in a limited geographical area because of budget limitations. However, the project has attracted a lot of interest from around the whole county
area. It seems people are often willing to purchase their own items - once they've found out about the equipment, how it might benefit their situation, where to get it and how much it costs. I really believe that this simple technology can make a really useful contribution to managing risks and maintaining independence.
