Building Health Equity: The Role of The Property Sector in Improving Health

Building Health Equity COVER

This report by UCL's Institute of Health Equity explains the consequences housing problems have for health equity and outlines what needs to be done by national and local government in collaboration with the property sector in response.

Focusing on how housing affects health in three ways: through quality, supply and affordability, the report offers practical ways to address the UK’s urgent need for good quality, affordable and accessible new houses to be built that meet local needs, and for existing homes to be retrofitted and refurbished.

The authors lay out a way forward to enable the property sector and national and local governments to work in partnership and put health equity, wellbeing and environmental sustainability at the heart of how the UK builds homes and shapes neighbourhoods.
