Designing healthier neighbourhoods: a systematic review of the impact of the neighbourhood design on health and wellbeing
This paper in Taylor & Francis’ online Cities & Health issue, maps the impact of the neighbourhood design on health and wellbeing and evaluate the quality of the evidence underpinning such associations.
Reviewing the literature, it points to a number of useful studies that measured the impact of green space and public open space on health and wellbeing as well as the role of neighbourhood walkability and connectivity on health and wellbeing. Furthermore, access to amenities and transport facilities was also discussed, along with the impact of neighbourhood quality on health and well-being across all age groups.
