Developing our understanding of the difference co-production makes in social care
As social care policy increasingly recognises the importance of co-production in implementing policy ambitions, there is an opportunity to deepen our understanding and knowledge about the difference co-production makes.
Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) believes that co-production is the right approach and should be taken as a matter of principle. However, they wanted to take stock and hear from people who have been involved in co-production, as well as considering the evidence about what is understood about co-production in social care, and to see what more should be done to better evidence the difference that co-production makes.
During their research they heard about the benefits of co-production for people with lived experiences and professionals.
Given the policy intentions, the opportunity to deepen our understanding and knowledge of the difference co-production makes must be taken and therefore SCIE made several recommendations.
